World Cup 2006

Finally, the world cup 2006 in Germany started yesterday. After hundreds of qualification duels and a lot of friendly games the last weeks, the biggest soccer tournament of the world started with the game Germany against Costa Rica.
Both teams aren’t my favorites teams to watch, but for an opening game, it wasn’t all that boring. A lot of opening games ends in a draw, like 0-0 or 1-1. This one ended in 4-2 for Germany. The germans didn’t score four goals because they have such a good team, but because the Costa Rica Boys played in a complete chaos. No kind of structure where seen at the Costa Rica’s Team. The only reason why they scored two goals, was because of Wanchope, the absolute star of Costa Rica.
I personaly think the Germans will come far in the tournament, not because they have a good team, but because they are tournament players and they play at there hometown. But if they want to reach the quarterfinales or further, they have to do something about that crappy defending, espacially the centre defenders.
Personaly I believe Brasil will be the World Champions, they are the team with the most quality, best individuals and the best team spirit. Yes I will put my money on Brasil.

Hi,
Brazil will NOT win the WC because they underestimate it, fully relying on their skills while beating drums and dancing through training camp.
Skill is only 10% of football, the rest is 60% hard work, 10% determination and 20% luck (read: bribing FIFA-officials and refs).
Italy works hard, has some skill, are very determent and know how to get their luck, as was recently been proven
So they are my favorites to win it.

I think Italy are a couple of wonderboys, being pretty, like Totti and Canavaro

I think that Germany has a great chance they are a balanced team, young, and of course they are the host country. I also like England. They are talanted up front and have what it takes. The only questions for them are fitness and at keeper. Is Robinson the answer? We shall see… On On England!

I think Argentina will be the WC.
They are very clever, have very good players (Riquelme, substitute Messi)

argentina nor brazil will win it.
When the WC is in Europe, an european team wins. when it is outside fo europe, a latin american team (brazil or argentina) wins.
Besides this, sponsoring is a big thing. Adidas and Nike won a lot of worldcups, but i guess in Germany puma will have some chance. Czech Rep and Italy are the european teams who wear puma!
