The smiley, the first and world famous emoticion, exists for 25 years today. Prof. Scot E. Fahlman was the first person who used the emoticon. He used the smiley for the first time on 19 september 1982 in an electronic message to his students. He used the smiley because he wanted to introduce a symbol to show which messages aren’t suppose to take to serious. Thats why he introduced the smiley.

I made some vacation pictures from my niece and a friend. My niece was showing me her newest trick and her friend was dancing on the music.

Veerle has designed a new logo for her own company Duoh!

Apple introduced his long expected iPhone. I must say, it has very nice looks, a real gadget.

The interface of the iPhone is a touchscreen interface. The benefit of a touchscreen is that you have a large screen for showing your content, but a disadvantage is that your screen will have ‘fingers’ on it soon.
I can’t wait to take a look at Apple’s newest gadget, but have to wait till the end of 2007, then it will become available in europe.

The website Smashing Magazine published a list of the 50 most beautiful CSS-Based Web-Designs in 2006. It’s not my top-50 list, but there are some pretty nice once there.

My “weblog friend” Nicolo is in the list there to!

My current assignment (for a client) is making an application with Google Maps, combined with serveral maps from the client. The application shows average prices from different house types within a range. I can’t go into to much detail and can’t give an URL yet, because the site is still in development status.

In September we visited the nice town Gent in Belgium. Not that is was our first time there, we’ve been there a lot before, but to take some nice pictures with my new Canon EOS D350 camera.

As I promised last month , here are a couple of sites that I liked watching this month. I liked them because of there colours, there styles, etc. Hope you enjoying them to and maybe get some inspiration of it.

Today I looked at my website and saw the the counter said: 9945 visitors. So in a short while visitor 10.000 will stop-by. I know for some websites is 10.000 visitors in a couple of month not much, they have more then 10.000 visitors a day, but for me I do think it is a nice result.

So congratulations to visitor 10.000 and if you be able to make a screenshot of number 10.000 at the bottom of my site and send it to me , it would be great!

I often surf on the Internet looking for nice designed sites, for inspiration, just for fun, etc.
There are a lot of showcase sites that I visited often, like: CSS Mania, CSS Galleries, CSS Import, Webdesignarchive, CSS Vault, CSS Bloom.

From now on, each month I am trying to show you a couple of sites that I liked that month. This month I am showing to you these nice looking sites:

Because I loved working with Expression Engine on my onw site, I decided to design a new website for my tennisclub, Tie-Break.

Today is my 30th birthday!

Wow.....30, what an old guy I think, I still feel young but 30 sounds that old.
I got a new digital photo camera from Natasja, a Canon EOS 350 D, a super camera!

Hi, I am back from a very nice vacation at a small village near Apeldoorn, just an hour drive from my hometown. Because of my sickness (in dutch: alvleesklier ontsteking) we decided not to go to Italie, but to search a camping nearby. My parents where so nice to let us loan there caravan.

You haven’t heard of me a while, that is because I am sick. What it is excatly, they don’t know yet. I hope to hear the results of a bloodtest this Friday. Until then, silence from this side, sorry.

The @media, on 15 and 16 June hold in London, is over. Sadly I wasn’t there. I would have loved to be there, between all the good designers, listening to there thoughts, watching presentations etc etc. Hopefully I will be able to be there next time.

But because I wasn’t there, I searched the Internet for articles from people who were lucky to be there and did some writing about the @media 2006.

Finally, the world cup 2006 in Germany started yesterday. After hundreds of qualification duels and a lot of friendly games the last weeks, the biggest soccer tournament of the world started with the game Germany against Costa Rica.

I just created my new layout and I am very pleased about it.

I know not al is in the correct layout format yet, but that wil be soon. A special thanks is going to Veerle, she inspired me of doing this. She did some great designing stuff and have nice tutorials, you can see all of it at her site.
